Finishes and adhesives
Osmo Hardwax-oil
Having looked and tried many sealants, stains and varnishes over the years we have firmly come to the conclusion that the Osmo range of oils gives the most satisfying finish. To quote from the tin: "Professional satin floor finish of particular durability and resistance for solid wood floors and laminated floors. It is microporous, water repellant and dirt resistant. Does not crack, peel or blister." It is based on natural vegetable oils and waxes (sunflower oil, soya bean oil, thistle oil, carnauba wax and candelilla). It has a shelf life of five years if kept tightly closed. Tins of 0.75 litres and 2.5 litres.
The brush shown right is used in a roller tray or a normal wide soft paint brush is also effective.

For strip overlay which is just 10mm thick you can hire a Primatech overlay nail gun. (All prices subject to VAT).

Rotary sander
We were all taught at school always to sand along the grain so it might be thought a conventional drum sander is needed to provide a good finish. However a much finer finish is obtained by using a Golia rotary sander shown here. Instead of sandpaper it uses a 17in mesh disc and white buffing pads. We can hire you one of ours at the following rates. (NB the machines cost over £1000).
