Oak Flooring

Oak Flooring

Plenty of choice

Since 1985 we have been supplying Traditional Solid Oak Planked Floorboards.

Solid oak planked flooring is often specified in period or listed dwellings and, as they are fully load bearing, are a preferred option when laid across joists. However, most modern houses will tend to have a concrete slab/screed on the ground floor and not joists.  This will not limit the installation of solid oak planked flooring, since due to the advancement in technology this floor can be glued using Rewmar MS Polymer . Apply this directly to the suitably prepared concrete/screed subfloor without increasing heights using chipboard and or battens.

We stock both unfinished character grade oak plank flooring, in various widths, random lengths, square shoulder, T/G and ends matched, which will require sanding and sealing on site. These are ideal products in situations where a tint is required or the subfloor has unavoidable height discrepancies. The undulation created can be sanded out making the surface flat and level without comprising any beveled edges.

Our pre-finished oiled character grade oak plank flooring has a micro bevel on four sides, random lengths, T/G and ends matched, filled, sanded and sealed with one coat of oil. However we strongly recommend a second coat of  Osmo Poly-X Oil is applied after installation.  This product range reduces time and labour on site and is extremely successful when fitted to a chipboard subfloor.

Engineered flooring

To compliment our solid oak planked flooring range, we offer unfinished engineered oak flooring.  The Continental range offers two widths and has a 6mm character grade European oak tread which is then glued to a 15mm multi layer birch ply backing.  The boards are random lengths, T/G and ends matched and the longitudinal lengths are micro beveled.  Each board is filled and sanded ready for sealing. We recommend using Osmo Poly-X Oil.

The Legacy is as per the Continental in its specification, with the exceptions of the 6mm wear layer (which is French oak) and the bevel, which is a 4mm V groove. This gives a real definition to the board dimensions, offering the traditional planked look but with a modern construction required of today’s installations.  This adds a more rustic charm of both warmth with deeper browns and larger figuring.

Once fitted, our engineered oak flooring is visually indistinguishable from the oak solid planked flooring. However, it will offer consistent stability - particularly when used over water-based under-floor heating - and is with out doubt a preferred choice of product in more challenging environments, such as conservatories.

The engineered oak flooring products we stock are not floating floors. They will require fitting as per the solid oak planked flooring.
