County Hardwoods built its customer base largely by specialising on supplying wide solid oak boards: we know a lot about traditional planking. This flooring is graded and costed according to the type of wood, width and freedom from knots. We can offer:
- a choice of traditional wide planks of oak 20mm thick
- to mix your widths for added authenticity
- two grades, prime and character
- five widths: 100mm, 130mm, 160mm, 180mm, 200mm
- tongued and grooved, kiln dried, random lengths
- tongued and grooved on the ends as well for all round grip and minimum waste
- practical advice from the West Country's leading supplier since 1985
Character grade oak has always been a popular choice. With an interesting mixture of knots, cats paws and colour variation, this flooring has been used in period homes, pubs, barn conversions and even new homes where a more rustic look is called for.
Prime oak is virtually knot-free and is fairly consistent in colour, with minimal sapwood. A warm clean looking floor, it is available in fixed widths 100mm, 130mm, 160mm and 180mm.
T & G on all ends means you can join between joists, reducing wastage to a minimum. Board lengths are random, from between 500mm to 2200mm making for an attractive finished product.

Oak overlay strip flooring
10mm thick, tongued and grooved, kiln dried, end matched. Supplied in single fixed width 100mm. Board lengths are random, from approximately 300mm to 1750mm. This strip flooring is designed to be laid over existing flooring or sheet materials. As well as being less expensive than the plank flooring it is ideal for those situations where threshold height may be critical. It requires sanding and sealing.
